High School Pre-Apprenticeship
Chemeketa's High School Pre-Apprenticeship prepares you for skilled trade careers.
Required Activities
You will maintain an accurate and complete portfolio showing completion of required activities –
- High school transcript with -
- APR 101 Trade Skills Fundamentals class with a grade of C or better
 - Two or more credits in trade-related high school classes (metals, woods, carpentry, etc.) with a grade of C or better
 - Algebra class with a grade of C or better
 
 - Copy of current First Aid/CPR card
 - Copy of OSHA 10 certification
 - Proof of participation at Construction Career Day or similar event
- Signed statement from instructor or a certificate of participation
 
 - Copy of high school diploma
 - Copy of Oregon driver's license
 
Optional Activities
Complete three or more of the following activities –
- Take an industry tour and document participation
 - Tour Chemeketa Community College trade programs
 - Meet with a Chemeketa advisor about trade-related programs
 - Participate in a trades-related program
- Oregon Tradeswomen
 - Chemeketa summer program
 
 - Attend a trades-related jobs fair
 - Earn a trades-related certificate
- Welding
 - Forklift operator
 - Refrigerant handling
 
 - Develop a resume and cover letter
- List mastered skills
 - Obtain sign-off from an instructor
 
 - Practice interview with a trades representative
- Send a thank-you letter
 
 - Visit oregonapprenticship.org
- Research three apprenticeship programs
 - Write a paragraph describing each trade
 
 - Attend a BOLI Apprenticeship and Training Division meeting
 - Take a standardized test and include the scores in your portfolio
 - Participate in a leadership organization
 - Take photos of completed projects and include in your portfolio
